Introduce your Characters!

name: Tiara (left) and Felix (right)

story title: It doesn't have an official title yet; I've just been calling it Wychwood

personality: Tiara is an angry delinquent; she can be really blunt and obnoxious, and while she feels deeply loyal towards her friends, it takes awhile for her to start to consider anyone that.

Felix has a strong sense of duty-- he will do what he has to for the sake of society, or what little he perceives of society (he doesn't get out much, and when he does he isn't in his own mind). He will put up with all sorts of shit if he believes it will do some good, or at least prevent widespread destruction.

family/relationships: Tiara never knew her original parents-- she was passed around between a lot of foster homes, and was considered a 'problem child'. She eventually went on the run a few months before her eighteenth birthday (which is the point where the story begins), after her pyrokinetic powers first showed up.

Felix's 'family' can be said to be his supervisors/various guardians at the secretive research institution in which he was raised; he believes himself to be a cloned half-breed, an experiment to create controllable soldiers with the magical abilities of demons, but human minds. He and a younger girl named Arcadia were the only surviving results; he thinks of her like a sister.

occupation/hobbies: Tiara rejects the idea of occupations as being necessary, and her hobby is being needlessly angry and also setting things on fire with her brain. She also spends a lot of time wandering around, especially into places she knows she shouldn't go.

Felix reads a lot, and occasionally paints in his spare time (he's pretty bad at it though). A lot of his time is taken up by training and going on missions for the organization that employs him, although for parts of them he is literally not in control of his own actions so I'm not sure whether that counts. XD

goals/aspirations: Tiara doesn't really have any goals, except maybe to be free-- what kind of free she isn't sure of yet, except that she'll know it when she sees it. Having some kind of purpose would be nice, too, or at least a productive outlet for her abilities.

Felix wants to believe that he is being used for good, and hopes that eventually he may be in control of the things he does.

brief story description: While on the run, Tiara is found by the militant arm of an organization that researches and wields magic to clean up the remaining traces of the demon invasion; they offer her room and board (and amnesty from the police) if she lets them study her powers, and over time the possibility of productive employment. She meets Felix while there; they end up becoming friends, and start finding out some rather weird things about the organization.

Then some other shit happens (idk how far into it I want to get, suffice to say there are Conspiracies involved :U )

..because I want some questions for these guys hehe! XD Let me share with you a bit about my ALIENS.

Name: (From left to right) Derek, Val, Nic, Jackie
Story title: Jackie's Story (BEST TITLE I know - it's actually one of my biggest regrets when I jumped too soon into making this comic XD I would have liked to think of something a lot nicer for a title - but I also didn't think I'd get past 3 parts for this story and then 19 parts later I realized I was in too deep to change)

Personality: For Derek and Val, it kind of depends on who they are around! They are both very sarcastic individuals who are constantly bickering with each other. They've been with each other so long that they're basically fed up with one another. Get them alone though and they're both a bit better well behaved. Jackie is a nervous little ball of fluff who wants to give you lots of hugs and kisses - unless you're mean or scary. Nic is an overprotective brother who is pretty indifferent towards most things and just wants to go back to the afterlife already because he is dead XD

Family/relationships: Derek is Val's older brother. Their only other family was their parents who are now dead/gone. Nic is Jackie's older brother and they don't have parents because they're all born from the same place. They have a bunch of brethren back on their home planet but they don't share as close as bonds with them - because they're all, by their nature, scared of everything and prefer to stay at home and do nothing much at all. And that's boring. (Let it be known though that - secretly Jackie shares these instinctive worries - but Nic is the oddball who goes against his nature and wants to explore and go on adventures, and since Jackie looks up to him, she forces herself to agree with that idea too!)

Occupation/hobbies: When Derek and Val aren't locating random aliens to invite to their abandoned planet to mess with for their amusement, Derek likes to invent things and play with all these technology related. And Val likes to read books. All of the books. Especially the romance ones.

Nic liked going on adventures when he was still alive, and Jackie just likes hanging out with her brother.

Goals/aspirations: Val and Derek's only real goal is to survive. (They're actually stuck to being on isolated planets and not getting too involved with other aliens, because they have bounties on their heads. This is why they're so sick of each other and started slowing inviting soome aliens to their planets so they have someone else to interact with for a while. )

Jackie's goal is to get her dead brother back and KEEP HIM BACK. Because that seems like a hard thing to accomplish for her. Nic wants to go back to the afterlife and be reborn already XD

Brief story description: The story is basically Jackie getting drawn into a strange game by Derek in hopes it'll bring back her dead brother. That really is it - in a nutshell! I think I've talked enough about these guys XD Hopefully still not too bad since it was for four characters in total.

names: Phantom (the kid) and Shruikan (other dude)
story title: Alizaron
personality: Phantom is secretive and creative and inquisitive, and hates being treated like a helpless kid. Phantom believes in letting people prove themselves rather than making assumptions. Shruikan is accustomed to living as an outsider and having to fight to prove himself and gain even an ounce of trust/respect-- and secretly it really bothers him that no one cares about him. They are both huge dorks.
family/relationships: Shru is an orphan; his mother left and his father was killed in battle when he was still just a kid; he's been pretty much alone ever since. (He had quite a few sexual relationships over the years but he almost never formed an emotional connection to his lovers). Phantom has an overprotective father and knows nothing about their mother. Phantom and Shru are very close friends. C:
occupation/hobbies: Shruikan is a drifter and a skilled fighter, and he's also pretty good at making things. (Having a lot of skills gives him more opportunities to not be rejected. While he's good with his hands and survival skills, he's not intellectual at all and is illiterate.) Phantom is the smart one and likes solving mysteries and knowing how things work, but has never had an occupation due to being a kid. Both love flying a lot!
goals/aspirations: This changes over the course of the story, but in general they want to help each other out and survive and also not have the world be destroyed/taken over by creepy people.
brief story description: (quick worldbuildy note: There are two significant cultures in this world, the Elves and the Daimonen. They don't get along.) Phantom is an agendered elf kid with a mysterious sickness and a weird ghost dude who visits them in their dreams. One day Phantom finds Shru injured and passed out in the forest and decides to take care of him; Shru thinks this is really weird because he's a half-blood and no one likes him, but he sticks around anyway and they become friends, and eventually he finds out Phantom is sick. Shru uses the Alizaron (Daimon magic, basically) to heal Phantom, with the side effect of Phantom also becoming part Daimon-- Phantom can't stay with the Elves anymore and runs away with Shru, and they go on Adventures! (And meanwhile, Phantom's father thinks something terrible happened to his kid and he goes on a quest for revenge... yep. U: )

(Ah, oops sorry! XD; I did kinda focus on his bad attitude about the whole thing hehe. Basically just imagine him as an old man who hates everything now 8'D But its because he's dead and not because he's old, "I am too old dead for these adventures")

And oooh those guys! I really admire their goals and ambitions haha XD! True friendship is using your powers to make the other one healthy at the cost of becoming an outcast in society just like you - and running away together! X3

Yes! I want to see him! XD And then Nic and Nic can be grumpy zombie bro's.

And heeeeee YES! They all have gender swapped names. It's because technically they are genderless and never even KNEW about genders until some alien researchers found their planets and taught them a little about it. (They also gave them some clothes since they were like WOW whats on your bodies thats cool I want that.)

I've always kind of wanted to find a way to have a short little "All About Z'narnians" type thing explaining more about Jackie's kind but just.. haven't ever gotten to finding a way about going about that yet haha.

hehe, perhaps we could make the next story forum topic be about a worldbuilding aspect like that! Or it could be worldbuilding in general but that might be too broad of a topic xD;;

Name: Percy (Short for Percival - he's the taller/older/greeny Fishy Bro) and Cadby (The shorter/browner/grumpy fishy bro)
Story title: No story for now~
Personality: Percy is a laid back down to earth guy. He's pretty chill about most everything and hardly ever loses his temper. Cadby on the other hand is a little ball of bottled up anger that he is always ready to release at everyone. He's constantly grumpy or unhappy most of the time
Family/relationships: Percy and Cadby are brothers, and they both have just one mama - because Percy's dad died when Percy was still just a baby. Cadby is also adopted, and was so while he was still an egg so he's never known his birth parents.
Occupation/hobbies: Occupationally they are both fish creatures - whom live under the Sea XD Uhm, hobbies for Percy would be trying to hang out with his friends which is hard because then Cadby feels left out since his friends don't like him much. (So he ends up spending most of his time sort of babysitting Cadby). And Cadby when he's alone likes practicing and figuring out his strange water bending powers.
Goals/aspirations: Percy doesn't really have anything like that, he lives day-by-day. Although would probably like to have his own family someday? (Very mature aspirations haha) Cadby's biggest goal is to make some friends - which is hard because of his temper/powers and he usually gets treated as a monster or just someone no one wants to hang around with
Brief story description: The closest thing to a story I have for them - is the dream they were inspired from. In which they were mermaid type people whom never knew there was a land above the sea. Percy discovers it one day and falls for a human girl. But then more people find out and they become spotlight celebrity type star things with everyone ever wanting their photos and for them to be on their tv shows. Cadby's had a bad feeling about it since day one of the discovery. He's kind of a special type of fishy guy though (He's got like, water bending power type deals for some reason eheh) and one day he had a nightmare about Percy being in danger and getting killed by some scary human person. He begs Percy not to go up to the surface that day fearing his nightmare will come true, and Percy lies to him to get him off his back about it - and of course goes right back up to the surface. And long story short - dream comes true and it's a lot of drama XD

I don't know if I will ever work with the story more, it's kind of... special and mostly just bromance drama that I love because it-came-directly-from-my-subconcious-of-interests-eeheh

Anyways - enough about those guys for now then XD Feel free to ask any questions for them over in the Char Q&A board though. They're fairly new characters, so it'd be nice to be able to develop them s'mores.

story title: nope
personality: Grumpy asshole who hates everything. Does what he wants because he doesn't care what people think of him. He dislikes dealing with people in general, but particularly if they want something from him.
family/relationships: No family; he's immortal in a weird semi-undead way and everyone he cared about died a long time ago.
occupation/hobbies: He's an alchemist! His hobbies are working on sciency shenanigans all alone, smoking, and forgetting to eat. (He is incredibly unhealthy, but it doesn't really matter because he can't die of malnourishment/starvation. xD;;; )
goals/aspirations: He's trying to find a way to return to his home world. Not so much because he really wants to go back, but because he needed to give himself something to do to keep himself from going (completely) mad.
brief story description: Ummm I don't know what part to talk about. There's sort of two main story arcs about him not counting his origin story; one in which Phantom gets stranded in his world as well (Phantom helps him work out a formula to open the gate again, but it only works if one stays behind to anchor it-- Nic insists that Phantom take the chance while he stays behind, because Phantom still has people who care about them while for Nic it's about the journey, not the destination) and the other is about a mercenary called Odin who is blackmailed into finding Nic and he gets dragged off to meet Odin's 'Master' (but all does not go as planned).

annnnd that's pretty much it!!

Nic and Nic - a bromance match made in heaven. It was meant to be. They'd enjoy each others company simply complaining about how dead they are, all day, everyday.

name: Jack and Ryuu

story title: Breathless

personality:
Jack: She is all fire and brimstone. She picks a fight at the drop of a hat, and is constantly charging into everything without looking. She is actually fairly intelligent but lacks a sense of caution/common sense. Most people in the story view her as male because she appears and behaves as if she is male but she is female.. She is very loyal to her clan and pretty much does not care about people outside it unless they seem useful.

Ryuu: Ryuu is very calm and steady. He is intelligent and always does things after a lot of thought and consideration. He is a good person, and will sacrifice things for the greater good. He is the type that takes care of other people. He is also very loyal to the clan but has a strong sense of what is good and evil and often feels conflicted because of this. He doesn't mind fighting and also has a bit of a dark side.

family/relationships:
Jack: Father, Mother, Uncle, her cousin Albert, Grandparents on her Mother's side.

Ryuu: Father, Step Mother, Mother, Grandparents on both sides.

occupation/hobbies:
Jack: Occupation would be clan member I guess. Kind of like a minor unofficial leader. On this world the population is pretty low and the government pretty much consists of warring clans and she is the child of one of the leaders of those clans. XD Hobby would be fighting.

Ryuu: Also a clan member. He has just returned from studying off-planet so he doesn't really have a place yet. He is very skilled at creating illusions. His hobby would be reading books.

goals/aspirations:
Jack: Be designated as the next clan leader. Beat Ryuu to a pulp (his father is the second in command so she sees him as a rival).

Ryuu: It's a secret.

brief story description:
There is a planet that people colonized and then after they landed there it changed and the air became unbreathable. It's full of monsters and is pretty much a terrible place to live, and they have to wear masks or regulators on their arms just to survive outside. The planet is full of illegal activities that could get them in huge trouble with the interplanetary government that controls all the planets with humans on them.

The story starts with Jack involved with some clan wars stuff while trying to stay out of the eyes of the off-planet government. There is some other stuff going on off planet that could affect them in a really negative or positive way depending on how it gets resolved. And of course the planet itself is full of secrets. It's pretty complicated, sorry haha.

I'm a bit confused about your use of 'genderbent' though... that usually refers to a redesign of an existing character as the opposite gender. (I assume you mean your character is a cis female who is mistaken for male due to her mannerisms and style of dress? Unless I'm reading this completely wrong...)

Errr I just used it because if you were reading manga the genre would be "gender bender" and I tried to figure out how to apply the term to a person, sorry if I misused the term. She appears and behaves as if she is male but is female. She doesn't really think about if she identifies as one gender or the other, she doesn't really care about gender. I tend to have a lot of characters like that, they feel comfortable. IE on gaia when I had a male avatar I dressed it as a female and when I had a female avatar I dressed it as a male... Not sure why gender bending is attractive to me. XD You understood what I meant. I'll change it since it's confusing though.

Ah, I see xD I never read much manga and I have no idea what the genres are (I just picked up stuff that looked cool).
The main thing I was unsure of was whether it was intentional crossdressing, or just people being mistaken, or an FtM character being referred to incorrectly (cause I guess when people refer to transgender people by the wrong pronouns it bothers me even if they're just fictional characters...? idk.)

May as well throw some more characters into the ring. :I

names: Astrid (dude on left) and Bethan (girl on right)

story title: Chirault!

personality: Astrid is a pretty uppity mage. He thinks he's smarter than everyone else (and possibly is), and is generally a cocky asshole who goes through life with the perpetual assurance that magic will save his butt if he gets in trouble. He's not easily deterred by unpredictability, either, tending to go 'ooh, how interesting!' when something responds in an unusual or dangerous way. He's careful to be very polite so while people may distrust him, they can rarely think of a concrete reason to do so, and he's slowly working his way to the top.

Bethan is a somewhat shy but also inquisitive girl from a small village; she's pretty handy with a sword (and bow, and spear) but hasn't had much opportunity or inclination to branch out beyond that until recent events sparked her curiosity. She's got a strong moral streak that can get her into trouble sometimes.

family/relationships: Astrid's parents died of illness he was small. He was taken in when he was about seven or eight by the mages' guild when the man who'd been training and employing him was arrested for unlicensed use of magic; he sees Heryan and Rune, his mentors, far more as parents than anyone else, though they spent only a very short amount of time specifically assigned as his guardians.

Bethan's mother disappeared when she was in her early teens, on what was supposed to be a short excursion into the forest from which she never returned (this sort of thing happens with relative frequency in the rural areas). Her father was killed when a large two-mouthed demon called a Strider attacked the village, the same event that led to Bethan meeting Kiran and Teeko.

occupation/hobbies: Astrid is a mage, which means he is (of necessity) a member of the mages' guild; he researches magic and develops new spells, and tracks down illegal magic use in whatever area he's been stationed. He loves this job and cannot possibly see himself doing anything else; he also has close ties to some high-up members of the Guild, which puts him In The Know for a lot of things he by all rights should be too young/low-ranked to have any idea of.

Bethan was one of her village's warriors, trained with various types of weapons to keep her village safe from whatever might pass by. She likes it well enough, being reasonably strong and agile, and it was nice to have a purpose; but as she grew older she did start to feel a little restless being stuck in the same place all the time... not that she would tell anyone. (Who would she tell?)

goals/aspirations: Astrid wants to GET TO THE TOP 8U Perhaps not actually be in charge, because he doesn't particularly want to be widely-known....... he just wants to Know All The Things and be the one who pulls the strings.

Bethan.... isn't really sure anymore. Before the events of the story she had a vague, nagging feeling that she could probably be doing more with her skills, but now that she's actually out of her village and on the move she's pretty occupied with finding a way to stop being immaterial (because being unable to touch or influence anything in the physical world kinda sucks when all the people you care about keep getting into trouble). She feels a vague sense of obligation to eventually go back and rejoin the rest of her villagers to help them rebuild, but there are a lot of other more pressing concerns to take care of first.

brief story description: A lot of it was covered by some of the descriptions here, and in the entry on Kiran and Teeko. Some bullet points:

-Giant monster attacks village
-Kiran, Teeko, Bethan, and the village chief fight the monster off but in the process the village is destroyed (Astrid arrives with a group of demon hunters who'd been stationed nearby towards the end of this, having been called in but arriving a little late)
-As the village has been destroyed, Astrid and the demon hunters shepherd the now-displaced villagers to a nearby town where they can seek shelter; this happens to be the only town with a river crossing, so Kiran and Teeko end up heading there too
-Magical shenanigans happen in the town and Bethan is rendered immaterial.

names: elf dude is Líntath; he also goes by Lin. The Spirit has no name and is just called Spirit. (The artifact it inhabits is usually called the Cube; SUCH A CREATIVE NAME I KNOW.)
story title: Abyssal (but I may change it, idk! Lin's also in Alizaron which is the Phantom/Shru story.)
personality: Lín is a cynical, sarcastic asshole. He rarely listens to advice, and is fiercely independent and slow to trust others. He treats everyone he meets about the same (he has no respect for authority and hates being told what to do). He doesn't care what people think of him. He's bad at showing affection, but he'll be there when it counts.
The spirit is bitter and resentful about being stuck inside the Cube. It has no choice who the Cube's Master is, and it is used to being treated like an object, not a sentient being. It kind of hates everything, but especially its Master.
family/relationships: Lín's parents were killed when he was young, and he always felt like an outsider in his home. He has very few friends; almost no one likes him (and it's pretty much entirely his fault). He's the only Master to treat the Spirit as more than a tool.
The spirit is sort of a mashup of different souls that fused into a single being over time. (It can't really be considered to have a family, though its component souls likely did at one point.) It generally avoids direct contact with its Master, as it really doesn't want anything to do with them. (Lín is the exception to this because he initiated their interactions.)
occupation/hobbies: Lín doesn't currently have an occupation, though he is good at fighting. His hobby is being a troll. (He also has telekinetic powers and is missing about half his body.)
Spirit is a slave, basically a magical battery in the form of a soul. Its hobbies are hating everyone and tricking its Masters into relying on it and trusting it enough that it can steal their bodies. (This gives it a brief period of non-enslavement until its magic corrodes the stolen body.) It also enjoys saying terrible things to its Masters, though they normally can't hear/understand it.
goals/aspirations: Lín doesn't really have a goal, except to wander the worlds and explore new places. (His lack of a goal confuses the Spirit; he doesn't seem to want the Cube for anything at all.) Spirit longs to be free, more than anything else. It also likes being treated like a person.
brief story description: Shenanigans happen that result in Lín coming into possession of the Cube, and he goes to wander around in the strange spaces between worlds. (He knows the dangers of the Cube better than most, as he can understand the spirit's nasty mutterings.) The story is basically them coming to respect and trust (and even like) each other as they go on adventures in the creepy between-place!
(Side note: the Cube is completely separate from the Spirit's will and is not itself sentient-- it operates on a set of programmed codes, like an AI. The spirit can technically act on its own but it is not able to violate the codes, and thus has very little real power. The aforementioned body-stealing is a loophole in this programming.)

Name: Oliv (Deer girl), and Drake (Dragon boy)
Story title: Contact

Personality: Oliv is very serious and stern when it comes to her beliefs. She's very big on proving herself, since it's something she is constantly having to do in the village she lives in. She's used to being ridiculed and talked down to by the villagers, but uses these things to fuel her ambition in proving them wrong.

Drake is someone who also shares these ridicules from his own villagers, but rather for being horrible at slaying monsters which every young man is suppose to strive for. He isn't out to prove anything though, he knows they're right. He would rather just hang around somewhere peaceful and play his flute.

Family/relationships: Oliv had a really close bond with her dad. He's the one who secretly taught her how to hunt and fight because he felt she should know how to protect herself. But her father died when she was little, and his death caused her mother to fall into a deep depression. This depression grew into a form of self-loathing personality in which she tries to make everyone feel as miserable as her. She doesn't bother much with life anymore, so Oliv has it taken upon herself to help care for her. While she has a poor relationship still with her mother, she's the only kind of relationship she has since everyone else in the village sees her as a disobedient ruffian. There is one other deer kid in the village that treats her with respect, because she saved his life once. But he doesn't hang around her or anyone to know since she has such a bad reputation.

Drake only has his dad, who is also chief of his tribe. His mother left when he was little because she was fed up with his father. He doesn't know where she is now. He also share a poor relationship with his father, who is extremely disappointed in him for his lack in enthusiasm of wanting to go on monster hunts with him. (He constantly still drags him along on some occasion though, hoping the excitement will spark something inside of him - but it never does.) Other than that, Drake also doesn't have any friends in the village - some even like to bully him a lot - so he prefers to be by himself most of the time.

Occupation/hobbies: While Oliv is good at hunting, and practices it constantly it's really something she just does to feel closer to her Dad and prove a point to her village. What she really enjoys doing when no one is around is painting!

Drake enjoys sleeping in and cooking delicious food. He also loves to play his flute! Hehe.

Goals/aspirations: Obviously, Oliv wants to prove to her village she can be just as good as a hunter (If not better) than the others. ((Story wise: She wants more than anything to face the one who cursed her and get them to break the curse.))

Drake wants to live a long and peaceful life. ((Story wise: He wants to try to talk Oliv out of her suicidal quest of facing the guy who cursed her.))

Brief story description: Lets see.. in a nutshell: Drake and Oliv get cursed by some-evil-guy, and Oliv sets off after him to make him take the curse back. The curse makes Oliv blind, and Drake deaf. They make a discovery that it also gave them the ability to communicate with each other via thoughts - and if they hold hands (Or make physical 'Contact'!) Drake can hear again if Oliv is covering her ears, and Oliv can see again if Drake is closing his eyes. While it's something, it's still not the solution Oliv wants and so she is determined more than anything to kick the evil guys butt and force him to take his curse back. Drake is like wow he gave us a curse and said he was being NICE - if we meet him again he is going to kill us, no stop Oliv come back.

Hahaha... SILLY nutshell of a description - but the story is really much bigger and .. tooo much going on to explain briefly XD They meet lots of other characters along the way and it's ah big ol adventure story.
